DZ 302 Harmonic Balancer hunt...Which one???

Looking to purchase a harmonic balancer for my 69 302 build in process, need feedback from experts on which to buy. Would obviously like to stumble onto a NOS affordable but I know it's not likely. So far I looked at the Dorman service replacement and it's not even close. Then looked into the HBC and they are back ordered indefinitely, next I see Classic Industries has 1 available that looks the part and is USA made for $262, and just noticed Parts Place Inc has 1 on Fleabay for $252 without any specifics.

So help with feedback if you can folks, thanx!!!

Mostly Camaros and FINALLY a Double Nickel

I got tired of looking. Mine was not worth using. I put a fluid damper on it.

Re: DZ 302 Harmonic Balancer hunt...Which one???

When I rebuilt my engine about 10 years ago I used this one for my non numbers matching 350 LT1. You might want to check the TDC mark is correct.

If this one doesn't fit the bill check with these guys for a original GM piece. They have SB & BB 1st gen parts, Bob or Craig.

I saw a comment from someone that HB's can actually be rebuilt so if you can get a ratty one it can be done.

I haven't seen anyone mention this as a choice.

Keep in mind there is cast iron spinning to 8600 RPM on both ends of the crank. I have seen enough explosions in my time that I won't run anything (even on the street) without a SFI (18.1 in this case) rating.

Al - I have a 3942538 harmonic balancer off of a 69 Camaro Z28. On the flip side of it is stamped 7708 and I believe "F" This was an NOS balancer before it was painted. Can't locate the box, though. Let me know if you're interested--make me a fair deal. Casey

If you are not planning on really turning it up... A standard 8 inch balancer will work fine.

The balancer I posted, 7708, is a standard 8 inch.

Re: DZ 302 Harmonic Balancer hunt...Which one???

The only one that is assembly line correct is the "long finger" balancer.

Just depends on how close you want to be to assembly line correct.
