Head Casting ?

67 Camaro, 327

The stamping on PS block has: V0406ME (Flint plant, April 6th. 1967 build, Powerglide, 327). Build date for car was 2nd week of April

Are these the heads that would go with a 210 HP base model 327?

The markings are different. Both have 2 hash marks but one has them "raised" more than the other.
Are they different or same head?

valve size?
cc size?

Re: Head Casting ?

Yes, those are the heads used with the LF7 (327/210). Casting number 3876775, and they used 1.72" intake valves, 1.5" exhaust valves and had a 74.66 cc combustion chamber.

Re: Head Casting ?

Thanks Ed:

The head casting # is 3789817. That is also listed as 62-67 283/327 2 bolt main block head

I just didn't know what valve size & cc.

Thanks

The car was listed as a "# matching".....and from what I have run on cowl tag & motor the engine was built April 4th and car was assembled 2nd week of April so the date of build for motor proceeding car is a reasonable conclusion the motor is original to the car. Car is a 327 210 hp 2 brl, powerglide, center console, fold down rear seat, deluxe interior trim & seat belt, rear speaker, tinted windshield base model

Motor has been rebuilt by PO. IDK if it is a .xxx over bore now or not. Did a compression test and got 133-138 across all 8 cyl. I may cam it and get aftermarket, larger valve, heads for it at some point. I did put a 4 brl and true dual exhaust on it

Not concerned or trying to make the car "as built"...it is far from that now :-)

Re: Head Casting ?

Rather than overcamming it, you would probably be light years ahead by putting 275 horse heads on it instead. Then you could overcam it and it wouldn't be such an undrivable pos.

The only reason someone would want insurance is if they want to pay someone elses bills or want someone else to pay their bills.

Re: Head Casting ?

regardless of what head I do use, the cam won't be big.

It very well could be a Edelbrock H/C package

Unless the motor craps out, it is just a cruiser so keeping the motor as is for now.
