327 with 441 heads

hey guys, looking for some input. I have a 327 with 3932441 heads. From what I have read, these aren't horrible heads, but I'm not sure they should be on a 327. Seems like they would be better on a 350. Anyone have any history or advise regarding these heads? Thanks!

Re: 327 with 441 heads

Assuming they are not cracked, warped, or just worn out they will work fine on a 327. You will loose power because they are smog heads: having larger 76 cc combustion chambers vs. the smaller 64 cc chambers used on your motor originally. They were prone to cracking (between the exhaust valves) and warping due to leaner running (burning hotter) smog engines, and they do not have hardened exhaust valve seats, used on later heads.

Re: 327 with 441 heads

Thanks for the feedback. As I suspected, they are not optimal. The engine is running now, so I'll keep them until I am done with other more important parts of my project (suspension and brakes) and will put new heads on my wish list.
