Question BB Oil pan, steering cross shaft contact???

Hi I have a 68 Z28 and im installing a Anniversary edition ZL1 427 and i find that my cross shaft of my steering touches on my oil pan when the wheels are turned just half way.
i have been told that the pan is designed for a corvette so my question is what oil pan can i purchase to eliminate the rod rubbing on the pan.
The steering cross shaft is on the back side of the control arms. Any suggestions or resolutions would be appreciated. Thank you for your help.

Re: BB Oil pan, steering cross shaft contact???

Is your ZL-1 still a two piece block? Or is it a more modern cast aluminum version of the GEN VI one piece rear main seal block?

That would be the first question.

Following that you will need an oil pan to fit a CAR body (Camaro, Nova, Chevelle or Impala). Whether it is a Mark IV block or a Gen VI block.

A Corvette and a light weight truck have their own proprietary oil pan that will not fit a car body.

Most all crate engines sold by GMPP are sold with a light truck oil pan because the BBC was only found in light trucks after 1974. If they were to sell a BBC to retrofit a car that never had a BBC from the factory they would face issues with emission laws. But by selling a light truck replacement motor, they can shrudge their shoulders and say "who knew they would put one in a car?"

If it is a Gen VI based block like Dave mentioned, I had a hard time finding the right oil pan. I ended up with the one below. It was the best bang for the buck too. Also, do you just need mount spacers? That'd be much easier if you could get away with it.

Re: BB Oil pan, steering cross shaft contact???

Yes sir it is a one piece.
it is the anniversary edition aluminium 427 and yes a Mark V1.
i have talked to moroso jegs and summit bit i cannot get the right answer as yet. I did find out about the truck pan statement you mentioned as well. There must be someone out there that put another one of these ZL1s in a 68 i would think.
Any additional help would be appreciated?
