327 Small Block Starter Options

Hey all, running a TSP 376 small block (12621766) and I bought a Quicktime bell housing RM-6036 (6036G18S) to fit a tremec 5 speed but the starter won’t fit.

Was thinking of grinding down the oem part sent but even with the fit, it will leave a gap with the bell housing starter gear area.

Hopefully I explained this is a somewhat logical way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Will try and get some pictures to explain.

Re: 327 Small Block Starter Options

I would not modify/grind any part to make it fit, as it becomes non returnable if its modified. Hopefully some one here with that experience will chime in. If not, I'd call the manufacturer of the transmission to see if they can shed any help on what starter works with your engine/trans combination.

Never argue with an idiot; they'll only drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Re: 327 Small Block Starter Options

I run the Quicktime bell and a Powermaster 9612 starter, I didn't need to grind anything.

Do you know what size bolts go in for the bellhousing? I’ve ordered the ones from QuickTime and have tried several others from an auto part store but the closest one we got thread in about a quarter of the way and bottom out/get stuck.
