Victor jr hood clearance

Hi all,

I have a couple of questions. I have a 1967 rs ss big block and a 1970 1/2 rs ss big block and I want to put Victor jr on both of them. On the '67 I want to use a drop base air filter, but on the '70 1/2 I don't mind running without a filter.

My question is will the manifold clear the stock '67 ss hood and stock '70 hood?

Thanks

Re: Victor jr hood clearance

With a drop based air leaner you make up the added height of the Victor Junior manifold (you can find out how much by comparing a Performer Manifold to the Victor Jr as the Performer is the same size as the stock Chevy Winters high rise). Don't remember what it was but it was around three quarters of an inch from memory.

Since you are not running an air filter in the second generation it should clear. This assumes in both cases that the BBC was installed correctly.

Thanks Dave!

Yeah for the '67 I think I should be fine. I'm putting a 489 in it and making it look stock. 950cfm carb won't have the added height of a choke.

With the '70 im putting a holley 850cfm # 0-9380 on the Vic jr so with that one I may have to just buy it and try it to see how it goes

Is there much difference between the Team-G and the Victor Jr? I have a Team -G on a .060 402 in a 68 Firebird that had clearance issues even with the center bulge on the Firebird hood. I used a low filter base, but had to go even shorter on the filter. It was close but it worked. I mostly ran without as well. The Camaro hood being flatter then the Firebird hood may be the difference. Heck I thought I had a pic with the filter on but I don't sorry.

I think the Team-G is slightly taller so I should be all good for the '67

Just the '70 im worried about now. It's hard to get the low profile 2" cowl hoods here in Australia we're stuck with the 2 3/4" cowl only here
