I Finally Pulled The Trigger! EFI Going On My 396

I made this purchase, hoping it is a good purchase. Part of this is used, but the ECU is brand new as well as the 3.5 display. This setup contains a FAST Dual Sync Dizzy. The harness has been altered with a connector added instead of the adapter purchased from Holley. I just purchased a MSD Dual Sync P/N 23753 and I will restore the harness back to the original setup.

I hope to use a cable accelerator setup. I purchased some parts to make the conversion but I do not know if my original pedal can still be used with a cable setup. I purchased a new pedal and will post the parts when they arrive.

I purchased a Holley P/N 12-300 OE Style In-Tank fuel pump. The EFI setup I purchased is from a guy that included a fuel pump relay and fused wiring harness.

I am excited to be installing a new technology system in my 50 year old car. This will be a fun project!

Re: I Finally Pulled The Trigger! EFI Going On My 396

I have been on the fence for my next build for adding EFI. Very interested to see your results and feedback of a system like this. Oh and congrats on having the balls to upgrade!

Re: I Finally Pulled The Trigger! EFI Going On My 396

When you get it all done and running well, take it to a tuner with a chassis dyno, those canned tunes that are in the ECU are weak compared to what a good tuner will put to the rear wheels.
I went up around 40Hp @ the wheels after a dyno tune, then it actually matched what my lap top dyno program had estimated.

You can use a 6 cyl pedal with a cable.

make sure you do the pedal change before you put the top end on . it will give you a LITTLE more room to get to the pedal bolts

Congrats on the buy, Brett, and I'm sure it is monies well spent.
Yes, John gave a good suggestion getting a L6 pedal.
Make a notebook of the events you do as they will be good for future reference, and for others here wanting to change over.
I'm curious on the O2 sensor and its fitment into the system.

Nice! I have a terminator system to start installing. I’m very excited. I’ll be following your thread.

Re: I Finally Pulled The Trigger! EFI Going On My 396

Awesome, you are going to love it!

I went with the Terminator Stealth in black, the HP ECU, dual-sync dizzy, and the MSD 6EFI box. I've mounted my ECU and MSD box under my dash. I added an oil temp sensor and fuel pressure sensor. I'm just running an in-line pump for now until I get a proper PWM in-tank fuel pump setup from VaporWorx and a new baffled fuel cell. I'm going to head down to Westech for my dyno tune since I'm in SoCal.

Re: I Finally Pulled The Trigger! EFI Going On My 396

This multi-quote I have NEVER got it to work. I click on each one I want to reply to, then I click on "Multi-quote", then I go to my reply and there is nothing there to click on!

Anyway, John, look at this one below. It sure looks like the one you recommended.

Camaro Gas Pedal

The guy I purchased the setup from sent me a tune. We will see how it goes.

I have tried and tried to tune this Holley 750 and I finally said F-it, I am going to go the route with better throttle response, better idle, better gas mileage, more power and more fun driving it. I know I can get better performance all around with EFI over the old school Holley.

I grew bigger balls when I saw the opportunity to get into EFI and save $1500!

I will give updates, but they wont be super quick. We are swamped at work and I don't get to spend a lot of time working on the 69. Sometimes, when i have only one day off, I wind up sleeping all day!

I would recommend a Lokar universal cable since I had a "stock replacement" take a dump on me in less than a dozen drives.
IF the cable fails, it's an easy replacement too.

To remove/replace the bracket at the firewall (2 bolts) use a ratchet wrench with a swivel head.....it TIGHT
I forget the size... 5/16" ? maybe ???

To multi quote. Hit multi quote in each post you want to quote except the last one hit quote and it should work.

And yes that is the pedal. I would also use the Lokar universal for cable with it

Re: I Finally Pulled The Trigger! EFI Going On My 396

I purchased the pedal and a cable, but the cable seems too short. I do not see how it fits to the pedal. This is the cable I bought; Summit Throttle Cable . There is this universal Lokar, but I don't see how this one mounts to my new pedal; Summit Universal Cable
If you have a part number or link to the cable that will work that would be great.

Thanks,

Brett.....

Re: I Finally Pulled The Trigger! EFI Going On My 396

Is there an advantage of the cable throttle? I have this same kit, and while great, the throttle is SUPER sensitive and takes away from the streetability of it all.

Lokar makes a dedicated Camaro pedal assembly with a cable
