plug fouled

Went to my first car show since my engine was redone I have about 200-300 miles on the motor. The show was about 40 miles away and before I got there the engine started missing. After the show and I got home I pulled # 8 plug and it was completly covered in black gunk (the reason I pulled #8 was gas and oil was leaking out between the manifold and head) I've never seen a plug fouled so bad, it is the worst plug I have ever seen , any Idea what would cause this, carb to rich? bad plug wire? any help and idea's would be appreciated. oh its a 396 bored 30 over to a 402 stock intake and a q-jet carb mild hyd cam I'am trying for the original look

Re: plug fouled

It sounds like the intake is not properly sealed and torqued. Your description of gas and oil leaking certainly implies that. That is where I would start. Check to see that the intake bolts are tight. If not, torque them and replace the bad plug. Inspect the other plugs. Other plugs, at least on the even number side, may also fouled ...

Re: plug fouled

Thanks for your reply, the gas and oil was coming out of the exhaust manifold between the head and manifold
