Re: 282 idle

I would think 750-800 would be about right. The 294s in my 388 will idle at 900-950 easily enough.

Re: 282 idle

I have the same cam in my 383. The idle is much smoother than I though it would be. I was hoping for more of a lope at idle. There is plenty of vacume for the power breaks. The little I have driven my I can say I am very impressed with the set up. Someday I will change the cam to something with more of a lope, I just love the heavy loping sound.

Re: 282 idle

They have been contracting out work like crazy. I talk to new people all the time that have only been there for a couple of months. Word on the street (from several reliable sources) is that they only plan to have 1800 employees left when the merger takes place. There was over 130,000 when I started there in 1997

Re: 282 idle

I'm running a 292H in a 383 and I can idle it with a heavy (strong) lope at 600 rpm. I prefer it in the 700-900 rpm range though, think it sounds better, then run it around at 600-700 in drive. Works good.

Just thought I would throw this in.
