ZZ502 Oil Cooler Bypass Valve

The instructions that came with my ZZ502 say I can leave this in or take it out at my option if I am not running the oil cooler. I've read elsewhere that it's best to remove it as it will give me about 5+ psi more oil pressure if I remove it.

My question is; How do I remove it?

It's the valve down inside the center hole that the oil filter attaches to per the diagram in my instructions, but the instructions don't tell you how to get it out of there.

Any recommendations on which oil filter to run on this engine? I've heard the stock AC Delco PF1218 filter is the best way to go.

Tim

Do you have any pics or can you post the instructions?

Tim,
You can usually pry them out with a screwdriver. They get mangled in the process, but you are not using it anyway. We also have a "hook" tool that we grab the tough ones with and pull them out. They are not in there very hard.
