69 454 Color

I've got a 69 Camaro with a stock 350. I just bought a 454 that I'm going to build up for the car. I wanted to know what the factory color for a 69 454 would be. I dont think that was even an option on a camaro but what color did it come in other cars?

Thanks,
Adrian

Re: 69 454 Color

There was no 454 in 1969.

During that time period any big block should be Chevy Orange.

Re: 69 454 Color

An olds 455 would be blue, the small blocks were gold... I used to have a cutlass, and I lived on 442.com, though I finaly snagged my dream car, a 69 camaro. It has a 350 in it now, but I've allways wanted a big block. I picked one up, but I wasnt sure what the correct color would be. Did they change colors over the years?

He's talking about the paint color on the engine itself.

BTW, are you talking about the swap meet in Arlington? I was there most of the day today and I didn't see any maroon camaros out there. In fact, I only saw like maybe 6 1st gens total and only 2-3 were even in decent shape. Seems like I missed a couple...

Chevy orange, then it looks just lilke a 396, can't tell the difference without checking the balancer. Make sure that you put in the correct engine frame stands. It will save alot of hassels with fan shroud, transmission line up etc... You also want to put in big block front springs.
