383 ???

I have just got my 68 running and it has a 327-275 hp in it that has had some mods done to it but it is just not getting it.I have a 010 72 modle 350 4-blt main short block that seems like it is a standard bore,it spins easy and seems solid, I just haven't taken it to a machine shop to have it checked.What I was wandering is what process that you have to go through to build a 383 from a 350 block ,could someone brake it down for me,plus I also have a 509 010-020 400 73 model standard bore block.Any help would be appreciated Thanks Camaro BOB

A 383 is built using a 400 crankshaft machined to a 350 main bearing size. it is likely cheaper to purchase a eagle or scat rotating assembly than to use the production crank. A 400 ballancer and flexplate must be used aswell. You can use a stock 400 rod ( NOT RECOMEDNED ), stock 350 rod (5.700"), or a long rod of 6.00". It's not that you are limited to 383 either, we have built up to 396 cube in stock 350 blocks. With the 400 block you can stroke it safely to a 421.
