Engine starts fine and then takes 4 or 5 times to start

I have a 96 camaro RS V6 Standard 97,000 miles. When the car has been parked overnight, and I start it up in the morning, it will start on a dime. As I drive around during the day, and turn it off and on, it will become harder and harder to start, sometimes taking 4 or 5 tries before it will start. This is a consistent problem that happens everytime I drive it. I replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, and had the injectors cleaned. I had a mechanic check it out and he measured the fuel pressure, ran it most of the day, and it all checked out fine. Any idea what may be causing this starting problem?

Thanks,

Keith

Fuel pump relay may be on the outs.

Exactly what I was thinking. When the relay contact pointsare cold, minimal amount of resistance across them.

As the relay heats up, the carbon tracking across the points heats up, thus reducing the total amount of current going to the pump, its given off as heat across the contact points due to being a high resistance.

If the mechanic drove this car, I'm surprised it did not do anything thing wrong with him. The post states mechanic ran it for most of the day, idle all day long sitting still, or did he actually drive it somewhere?

I think there is a cold start injector on that motor. If I'm right, you might try disconnecting it and see if it has any impact on the problem. But thats just another simple suggestion to add to the relay idea which is also very possible.
