Oil pan!!!!!!

I need to replace my oil pan, do i have to pull the engine? i hafve a 87 z28 camaro with a aftermarket 305 carberated

I would say yes. You may be able to lift the motor and do it. But to me, the trouble of working on your back is not worth the extra little bit needed to pull the motor. You'll have most everything disconnected to lift so might as well pull. Besides you probably have an oil mess in there if you're replacing the pan (I'm assuming it leaked). So having the motor out will give you a chance to clean up a bit.

Now if all you are doing is replacing the gasket, you might be able to lift one side of the motor and drop the pan enough to fish the new gasket in there.

It helps to clock the damper at 5:00 if I remember right b/c this moves the crank counterweights up to give more room inside doing this.
