What plug do you guys suggest for the following?
383 w/Edelbrock performer ported heads, 280 H Comp cam, full headers.
My engine builder suggested NGK-5238 but they do not come in shorties which I have b/c of header clearance. What have you stroker guys done good with? Thanks


EDIT - Good grief! There is just too much to know about plugs for the novice. Projected, non projected, resistor, non resistor, heat ranges, depths, materials. Does it ever end? How much is crucial for the street machine? Am I reading too much into this? If anyone outthere wants to school a rookie - I'm listening.

I'm using Autolite's, part # 3926 for a similar combo,..406, AFR-195 heads, 270H, Q-Jet, Hedman 1-5/8" headers. I don't come close to needing shorty plugs. What headers are you running,..Dynomax?

A fraction cooler plug is the 3924,..you'll have to read the plug to know if cooler or hotter is needed.

I have the hooker off brand (flowtech?) I can't remember without digging up receipts but they are also 1-5/8. If I remember right it's #3, & 4 or 6 that are too tight and will burn the boot without a shorty.

I'm useing the Autolite AR series. They are shorter than a standard plug but have a cut back ground strap.
