GM Phase 6 aluminum heads (plug help) Calling all Experts!!

I don't even know where to start. I have a 412 small block with the GM phase 6 aluminum heads.(part# 10051167) I haven't run the motor yet, but can't find any info about what plug to use. I know it has to have a 3/4" shank, normal heat range is ok, and I know i can use the tapered or regular plug. what I don't know is which actual plug to use.

It has 12.5-1 domed pistons....clearance isn't the problem. Any idea????

thanks,

Lee

Re: GM Phase 6 aluminum heads (plug help) Calling all Experts!!

I have a set of these that I had run on my 331"/341" motors. I prefer the gasketed plugs myself. And coat the threads with anti-seize. Also, if you have not done something with the OEM guides I would.... they are steel guides and need either a decent liner or a change to bronze guides. I got some guides from Brodix and machined the OD to fit the head, and then pressed them in and honed them to finish size. Also make sure your heads have the later deeper seats, as some early Phase 6's had shallow seats that loved to fall out. I did a very mild home-port on mine, and they put my doorcar into the 10-teens with a 331", and my dragster went low 8.20's. IMO they are not a bad head to work with, but there are a lot nicer ones now out. If you have any questions let me know...
