Re: Summit Racing and hooker headers????

Install them,..you're gonna scratch them a bit more on install.

Dupli-Color makes a high heat aluminum colored paint in a spray-bomb that you can put apply with a little artist's brush,..it will coat and blend nicely.

Good luck!

Re: Summit Racing and hooker headers????

You don't sound happy so I'd send them back. What bothers one person may not the next. Call first to see if they'll pick up the shipping. I'd want to be the one to scratch them if they get scratched or chipped. My headers aren't coated but if I ever install a set I think I'd tape up each tube with some of that blue painters tape and news paper.

Cool Re: Summit Racing and hooker headers????

The last problem I had with a Summit order got fixed with a phone call. They shipped out a new part the same day, no charge to me, and they had UPS stop by the shop and pick up the part I needed to return. The guy on the phone told me as long as the old part showed at the warehouse in 30 days, no sweat.

Send the headers back!

Re: Summit Racing and hooker headers????

Send them back, once you install them they're yours. You didn't get a discount, did you? You paid for new coated headers and paid the full price. Personally I would call Summit, they have always been very fair to deal with. Now if you just don't care and it doesn't bother you, go ahead and run them.

Re: Summit Racing and hooker headers????

Summit was a-one to deal with...they said send them back, and they will reimburse me for the shipping, and send me out a new set. Or they would send me a $50 credit if I could live with the scratch. After reading the post about how I can blend and repair, I elected to take the $50 bucks. Thanks for all the help and guidence. Summit was GREAT to deal with, a real rarity in todays business world. Re: Summit Racing and hooker headers????

Summit will make good on them and it won't cost you to send them back either. If you're not happy now, you'll never be so just return them.

I ordered a set of S/C ceramic coated about 2 weeks ago too and one side is kinda dull compared to the other.I don't think their quality control on these coatings is too good.I thought only $200 extra was a good deal (compared to sending them out to Jet-Hot) but now I'm starting to wonder...

Re: Summit Racing and hooker headers????

I had bought a set this summer and one of the center pipes on the left side started to leak on tube side of the header. Of course it was the side that the engine had to be lifted to get it out, anyways Summit took care of it for me and gave me a new set. Only one problem and I don't blame Summit, the flanges had changed position on the new set and I had to re-weld the collectors. They were Ceramack Coated Hooker Super Comps 1 3/4.

Re: Summit Racing and hooker headers????

All the reasons above is why I like to buy my headers un-coated until I test fit them and have everything like I want it. I then send them out to get coated. I know Jet Hot charges a lot for a set of headers. The place I use is call Capps Bright Hot Coating, in Fresno California. They have very fair prices and do EXCELLENT work. Their turn around time is great as well. I have met and talked to the owners a few times and they are great people.
