Looking at Crane Cams 274 HO6 ?

I am seriously considering buying the Crane 274 HO6 for my 69 355, with 300 hp 041 heads, quadrajet, stock intake & exhaust manifolds, flat tops, power brakes, A/C rallysport.

I want a lopey idle and good performance. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about this cam?
Thanks.

I have it in my 67 327 flat top pistons hump heads qjet stock intake and exhaust manifolds 21/4 exhaust with flowmasters.2200 converter TH350 with 3.08 gears.Killer chop at 700 rpms. in gear.Makes good power.I really like it.I have power brakes and ac also.No problem with the brakes you may need a fast idle solonoid for the ac.But with a 350 you may not.

Re: Looking at Crane Cams 274 HO6 ?

Wonder how much different the idle would be in a 350? Does it really have good low end torque?

i dont think it would be much different in a 350.It is really a torque cam 218 at .050 and .450 lift its the 106LSA that makes the rough idle.It smothes right out after 900 to 1000 rpms.I think my 327 makes good torque.

Re: Looking at Crane Cams 274 HO6 ?

I am a little confused on what valve springs to use. The tech line gave me one # and the website gives another # for the suggested springs to use with this cam.

Tech said part # 11308-1
Website says use # 96802

Cam card says 99848 105lbs. at 1.70 and 265lbs at 1.280 I used the LT1 Z28 springs from Competition Products which are 120lbs at 1.700 and 300lbs at 1.250 tech line said these would be OK.I have been running mine like this for over a year with no problem.

Thumbs up Re: Looking at Crane Cams 274 HO6 ?

Imho, it should be an excellent older style cam!!!

And I figure it will not be noisy and it will probably last a long time vs the newer "XE" type cams..
