396 block number ,, but not casting number?

I asked a dealer for the block number off a block I was told "T0325LF" thats T ZERO 3 2 5 L F I was told its a 1965 396 325 horse 4 speed motor. This number does not match any casting numbers so im kinda confused. Any help would be cool.

thanks

Re: 396 block number ,, but not casting number?

Those aren't casting numbers, they are an assembly code. LF equals 1965 model year 396/325HP with a manual transmission used in a full size Chevrolet. 0325 means it was assembled March 25th (one would assume 1965), and T means it was assembled at the Tonowanda Assembly plant (the only plant that made big blocks).

More than likely, if it is unaltered , it is a 2 bolt block.
