Thumbs up 302 Power.

I just got off the phone talking with Tony H. down in the SE part of the country.

Tony gave me some dyno numbers I thought I would share for him with his OK.

RPM Hp T
2000-----129----333
3000-----210----356
4000-----306----395
5000-----395----414
6000-----454----393
6500-----463----373
7000-----458----342

Tony said the motor is basically a stock, .030" over, 302 with, (I think I have this right?), a Crane Powermax F-278-2 solid lifter cam:

278/238/288/248, 114/109, .480"/.500" lift.

And Tony asked me if I wanted a copy of the dyno sheet b/c he said he's going to go get a copy of it and keep it just for.......

Sounds like one hard runnin' little motor to me!!

Tony,

If you are peeking in on this, post the complete motor spec's.

If Tony doesn't chime in here in a bit, I will ask him all the details the next time we talk on the phone.

Tony is like me, he hunt and pecks so it is slow posting..

Re: 302 Power.

We have been down this path before.

A stock as-installed 302 had about 325-335 hp. There was a dyno run performed in the '80s as part of a restoration feature in MCR I believe. They also tried it with the '140' cam and got about 20 more hp. Penskes' Traco T/A engines were just over 400 hp with Engle cams. Todays NHRA-legal stock class 302s are around 430 hp.

Re: 302 Power.

I don't build engines, but can you gain that much with what looks like a subtle cam change?
