Big block heads

I'm looking for a good set of heads for my blown 502 project. I need around 188-120cc chambers for the desired 8.6:1 compression.

I was leaning towards AFRs, but for $1000 less you can buy 24-degree rectangular port Edelbrock heads:

Unforunately I can't find flow numbers to compare to the AFRs. Does anyone know if Edelbrock has published numbers, or if anyone else has flow tested them?

I would imagine the AFRs will outflow them at high lift, but I'm more concerned about the .350-.500 range anyway, so if they were comparable at that lift and I could save a grand and get them tomorrow, it'd be compelling.

Thanks,
Dave

Thumbs up Re: Big block heads

If bucks are tight, you might consider the new cheap BB Aluminum heads that Powerhouse is selling right now for like $789/pr. BARE! AND set them up the way you want them.

They should be great cheap heads, imho..

Re: Big block heads

I remeber when I was shopping around for heads I saved $1000 on Dart pro 1 heads vs. the Afrs and the flow numbers where very similiar.

Made 700hp in a 540 for my boat! (pump gas motor)
