The engine builder down the street has a 427 steel crank in a block casting14015445, 454, from 1978-1987. I have not had a hotrod in ten years, I'm just getting this car together now, and I am considering this engine. It looks really nice, it has decent roller rockers, brass plugs, 4 bolt, heads are 3993820. The engine is built from 1500 to 6200/6500, just what I wanted.... I just don't know anything about these blocks??... Do you guys have any bad news about this block casting???... Merry Christmas Everyone!!.. This site is the gift that keeps on giving!!.....

I don't know of any particular flaws with that block. It could be a 2 bolt or a 4 bolt with a 4.250 bore. Either way a 2 bolt can support a good amount of power and 6000rpm pretty regularly if everything else is in good order.
The heads are 1971, oval port, 402ci, roughly 114cc chamber. If I'm not mistaken they have about a 260cc intake runner but I'm not positive.
