Question big block valve covers

I have a 68 with a 454 and planning on swapping out the valve covers. Looks to be a pain as the covers are close to the brake booster and the wiper motor is in the way. What is the best mehtod for getting them off?

They actually come off easier than it looks. You kind of "roll' them off. If you're going to taller vc's, you may run into clearance issues with the booster (if it's the original style). What did you have in mind?

Re: big block valve covers

Mine came off OK, but I had fits getting mine back on, because of the clearance and the last bolt on the bottom, in the very back of the valve cover. Cussed like a sailor for about 2 hours, and finally got it' on. They were just your basic M/T short covers, but because of the disk brake booster, it was a very tight fight. Maybe it won't be so hard for you........

Re: big block valve covers

I now have short covers and will replacing these with short cover also. Thanks for all the support. I feel a little better for now, maybe that tune will change once I start replacement. LOL
