Downleg vs. Annular Boosters

My old carbs had "downleg" boosters. Newer carbs offer a choice between downleg & annular boosters. It seems to me that the downleg boosters are a bit smaller and don't detract as much from the carbs CFM rating. Are there advantages to using "annular" boosters?

Re: Downleg vs. Annular Boosters

The major up side to annular boosters is throttle response. You are correct that the larger booster "can" effect high speed CFM. Without knowing more about your combo, I will not make any suggestions or assumptions. I will say that the throttle response of annular boosters is GREAT. They are more sensitive than standard boosters.
