She'll run but won't restart

My 67 with a small block 350 runs mint until I shut her off. She won't restart until she cools down. I have wrapped the header & put a heat plate between the starter but still no dice. Anything else I can do like an HP starter. Please help, it's emabarrassing.

sounds like a weak starter to me ... I would just replace it with an off the shelf starter or rebuild it if its an original car and see how that works for you!

You might try the remote solenoid setup ... It is fairly straightforward and defintely helps with resistance and voltrage drop issues ... also, You may also have to back off of your timing a bit if it still drags after you done any parts changes ...

The remote starter is the way to go. MAD Electric has a great setup for the the remote starter.

Make sure your grounds are good. If the engine was out and painted scrap the paint were the grounds go. Alot of the time it is a grounding problem.

this is a common proplem with headers! go to a good gear reduction starter,
will be furthur from headers, more cranking power, and can be rotated for best position

I just went through the same ordeal. Your correct in thinking heat is the problem. So anything you can do to reduce the heat helps. Remote solenoid will work. If you don't mind a non factory look. But if you don't want "stuff" hanging from your wheel wells. Get a "good" starter. They make a solenoid that has porclyn that helps reduce the heat. Use a starter heat shield. Worked for me. Good Luck
