another backup light question

I have a 68 with a Muncie M20 and a Competition Plus shifter. After reading the older posts on the forums it sounds like I need the Hurst switch that maybe Ricks sells.

Part #: HCP-7 Description: Hurst Back-Up Light Switch Assembly

Can anyone tell me if this is the right switch and how it mounts, Does anyone have any pictures of this switch or similar ones mounted.

Thanks
Ray

Re: another backup light question

That is the correct switch.

It attaches to the rear "stop bolt" on the shifter, you just take it out, then screw it back in with that bracket on. The locknut will hold the bracket. Adjust the position of the bracket / depth of the switch so the reverse lever pushes in the switch when you're in reverse.

Wires should be pink and green.

Re: another backup light question

Thanks Jim.

I'm looking at pic's I took of my shifter and after your explanation I think I see how it installs. I see the wiring to the lights and into the trunk. I just need to find where they wind up under the dash somewhere. Did they originally terminate into a single connector of some kind? I assume they also need to run down the wire harness and into the center console and end up at the switch. I bought one of those nice laminated color coded wiring diagram a year ago when I was working under the dash but cannot find the thing anywhere.

Thanks
Ray

on a 67 there is a 2 spot connecter on firewall on right on fire wall. look at gas linkage from under hood and you will see it.
