67 fuel gauge

Is there a difference between a 67 fuel gauge and a 68 fuel gauge? My 67 went bad, I ordered a new one ,and the backs are not the same. Mine has a very fine wire running between two posts with about 25 coils in it. The new one does not have this wire. Help I'm lost.

Re: 67 fuel gauge

a 68 gauge is a different color, there is a silver circle on the face, it's not all black like a 67.

It seemed this pm exchange belonged here:

I don't recall such a thing on my original (68) fuel guage, but that means nothing.

Lotsa guages use a resister of some sort to help calibrate them, they are on most of the original 68-69 console guages. It's been a lotta years since I had a 67, so I really don't recall the back.

Aftermarket guages, tho made to look like the originals from the front, often have different more modern circuits inside. I know this is true of my oer tac.

I would mount and connect the new guage exactly as it was delivered.

I'll also post this exchange to that thread. Very likely there is someone right here reading who has "been there and done this" with a 67.
