Red, Green and Purple

These are the three color leads from by rear power window motor.

I was told that you can hook up a 9v battery to move the window up and down.

I don't know which lead needs the power. When I put the battery wire in either the green or purple and ground to the frame I get a spark. When I hook the center red to the positive on the battery and the negitive to either the green or purple...nothing.

This happens on either side so I doubt that the motors are shot, but it's possible.

By the way, I found an old soup can in the regulator mechanism, I've actually seen this before on my old 67.

Any suggestions???

Re: Red, Green and Purple

I would be very surprised if a 9V battery could drive a window motor. Especially if the window is still in the door.

Re: Red, Green and Purple

My '69 motors have only 2 terminals going to them. I tried a 9V on an old motor and it did not work(sparked yes, but the motor did not turn). 12 V battery - to the frame and + to one of the terminals and the motor rotates one direction, + to the other terminal and the direction changes.

Are the 3 wires at the switch? if so the red is battery + feed and the other 2 are to the motor one for each direction. Try a full 12V to ground and either the green or purple terminal.
