underhood wiring?

I am recovering my wiring harness and was looking at the diagram as I went to make sure everything was in place.I have two different diagrams. On the starter harness I have the resistor wire and a large red wire. One diagram shows the red wire, and the other shows the resistor wire. Both are coming out of the same terminal.I know where the resistor wire goes but not the large red wire. Can anyone help?
THANKS

Re: underhood wiring?

What are we talking about here? Give us the year and model. 1st gen Camaros don't have a resistor wire on the starter that I'm aware of.

Re: underhood wiring?

If both wires come out of the same terminal, it sounds like someone added a new wire to handle electronic ignition, but left the old resister wire in place.

There was not originally a large red wire in the engine harness.

Pick whichever you need (resister for points, big red for electronic) and cut the other off, or tape it and wrap it up.
