RS reverse lights

I have a 67 RS that was a powerglide console car and was changed to a muncie 4 speed around 1970. The car has the console with guages. The reverse lights are not working. I looked under the car and on the the trans there is a switch with a wire that runs into the car near the fuse box but isnt hooked up to anything. Where should this wire go ? What will I need to make the reverse lights work?

I'm not sure about the unhooked wire, but is there a small metal rod going from that switch to the reverse lever? If not you'll need one of those so the light switch is triggered when you put it in reverse.

Re: RS reverse lights

on a 67 the reverse lights go from tranny. to firewall outside near throttle cable. a kinda t typed connector. than inside it went from that connector to wire on left of dash.than back to lights. but if your car came with powerglide first got to check power down bottom with key on. 1 wire needs to be hot.in reverse other wire makes connection and turns on reverse lights.if you dont have that connector. you can run a hot to that reverse light switch and run a wire to connector under dash going to your backup lights. wire is light green. if you need wiring for a 67 pm me i got whole car.

Re: RS reverse lights

have you looked for it in your console?

As Bill said, green wire goes to the lights, pink is power, they should be in the console if it started as a powerglide car.

Re: RS reverse lights

Haven't worked on many PGs, but as others have said the switch should be associated with the shifter and probably inside the car. Manual trans often have a reverse switch in the transmission itself, but all I can offer is my hunch.
