Lamp Question...

I'm hoping to install some custom lighting (courtesy lights) in the interior of my '68 Camaro. I'd like the lights to turn on when the door is opened and remain on for aset amount of time OR when the starter becomes engaged. Most modern cars have this feature tied into the dome lights, but my Camaro's dome lights function differently (only when the door is open). Any wiring tricks/circuits I could use to accomplish this?

Re: Lamp Question...

Modern cars use what is called a retained accessory power module that controls all those functions. It's not a simple device and even communicates with the ECM. For what you're trying to do, you'll need to build something custom, most likely. It will involve microcontrollers and all sorts of fun stuff - not available at your local radio shack.
