What could I be missing?

I am new to wiring but did plenty of research on the board here. I am trying to turn the engine over in my '67 but nothing happens at all. I have the battery cable to the starter and purple wire on the inside post. The yellow wire is running to the coil but I assume this does not matter right now since I am not trying to fire the motor yet. I have plugged the harness into the back of my ignition switch. Is there something else I am missing to do this.

Thanks

Brandt

Re: What could I be missing?

I feel really stupid right now! Auto on the column, not manual.

Re: What could I be missing?

The neutral safety switch is probably out of adjustment....Try moving the gear selector lever up and down as you're cranking the engine.

Re: What could I be missing?

I did not even have it plugged in. I will hook it up and see what happens.

Thanks

Re: What could I be missing?

No luck. Any more suggestions. I am only trying to get it fired up so that I can get it out of the shed-yes shed, I do not have a garage, only a 16' shed.

Thanks

Re: What could I be missing?

Since you are the only driver, unplug the neutral safety switch and jumper across the teo purple wires.

If the engine starts up , then neutral switch is bad, only after checking to make sure the purple wire is in the correct socket on the ignition switch connector and power is coming from the firewall, red wire, and from the horn relay buss bar from the junction block next to the battery on the radiator support. Ground is important also, it completes the circuit.
