DSE Select-A-Speed Wiper Motor

Has anyone used the DSE variable speed wiper motor they offer for our 1st gens? If so, then what did you do about the washer pump? I have been seriously thinking about getting one, but I have tohave a washer pump. I also do not want to have to mount a new washer bottle. I can't understand why GM made these cars with only two speeds (SLOW AND SLOWER). There were wiper motors out that used delay so why didn't they give us one of those? Anyway, all comments welcome and appreciated.

Re: DSE Select-A-Speed Wiper Motor

I have one in my 69. I have used it once when I got caught in the rain. As far as a washer bottle, I don't have one but I would talk to DSE and see if your stock one will work. By the way, when I did use my wipers the delay was cool.

Re: DSE Select-A-Speed Wiper Motor

There must be some sort of submersible pump that can install in our stock bottle and operate from a small push botton under the dash etc or from the same switch?

I have never had much luck with the stock pumps and the amount they squirt. I had to deal with this once in a vehicle inspection with the CHP years ago. I ended up putting an electric fuel pump inline so I could get that car titled in the US. It was a 1970 E type Jag I had bought in Mexico and was getting it titled in the in Ca and the US. What a PITA!!

Re: DSE Select-A-Speed Wiper Motor

I spoke with DSE and first they said they have no current plans for a motor w/washer pump. They said to use any inline washer pump. I had another place that sells the DSE motor tell me that the motor is off newer GM vehicles. It almost looks exactly like the motor in my 93 Buick Roadmaster. It operates the same exact way. Two speeds plus 5 delays. My Roadmaster has the pump mounted on the outside of the bottle and the wiper switch is also the turn signal lever. I have a electric trunk pop that I am going to install and I am going to mount an inline washer pump inside of the drivers side fender and mount the button nest to my trunk pop button in side my console. I have one of those add on consoles that piggy backs your original console. It will make for a nice install.
