Question Starter Button

I'm planning to install a starter button from a Honda 2000 into my 67. Has anybody done this? Can somebody help me with the wiring, or show me a schematic of how to wire it? I know of a site that did this to a miata, but I think the wiring is different. Thanks. BTW, I have the Mad setup with the solenoid and battery in the trunk. Thanks again.

Re: Starter Button

i dont know what the switch has for wiring
but as long as you plan on keeping the ignition switch and adding the push button start
all you need to do is hook up 12 volts from the ignition to the switch and the starter wire ( take it off the ignition switch too) i believe it is purple and might have white stripe
but the wiring of the push button could make it more difficult

Re: Starter Button

I added two marine push buttons, one inside and the other next to the ign coil for the purpose of adjusting valves.

I wired, 12 AWG, both of them from the battery cable terminal on the starter solenoid to the switch and the other side of the switch the "S" terminal on the solenoid. Yes the switches are "hot," but I don't need two hands to start the engine, one to hold the ign sw in START and the other to press the button. Put ign sw to IGN, and press the button, if the Start pos does not work. Starter guaranteed to turn.

The switch I have inside have the wires ran through a grommeted hole in the firewall.

Re: Starter Button

I'll try your wiring suggestions, and will post results later. Thank you.
