Gen light

A friend has a 64 (?) Malibu with a aftermarket 350. Not sure of the specs of the 350 but its definitely not stock. Also not sure if the alternator is 2 wire or 1.
But his wife was on a road cruise without him and she noticed the gen light come on. The dash and interior are as stock as can be.
She went to the nearest garage and they replaced the alternator. The gen light is still on though.
I told him to check his alternator to make sure its putting out voltage but as far as that gen light is concerned I have no idea where in the circuit that is and how to get to it.

How does he get that gen light to turn off without just removing it or the wire to it?

Re: Gen light

That circuit is virtually identical to a 69 Camaro. Check in the basics sticky, the wiring diagrams are in there. There is also a troubleshooting article on the external reg charging system.

First things first, find out what's in there. A one wire don't connect the gen light.
