Msd Dist 8361

I have a brand new dist. Im trying read the ohms to check the magnetic pick up, according to MSD troublshoot. Should read 400-1300ohms. Problem is I dont know what Im doing. What setting do I need my tester at? 20k 200k 2000K and so on. Im not getting any reading off of any of them except 2000 w/ an arrow and a line throught it??? I checked the 6al and it test good with the coil. That leaves the dist.

Re: Msd Dist 8361

I think the ohm meter you re using has too large of a range for checking the dist. I checked my dist this week with the 2K setting and it read about 0.6.
Not electrical but the setting of 20 K may be to broad to reading the dist.
Advance auto has a ohm meter that has a much smaller setting.

Ya. I can get the 6al to spark with the blaster 2 on the MSD test. But when I hook it up to the dist. I get nothing. So Ive been trying to check the dist. but I dont know what ohms setting to use??
