Tachometer Works Perfectly
I had a post a week or so ago about my factory tach not working with my breakerless ignition. I'm not sure if you are familiar with the problem but I had a dead needle. I was reading about tach filters...etc..., well it drove me insane and I finally found the culprit. Two of the terminals on the engine wiring harness bent over when I plugged it into the fuse panel. Low and behold one of the terminals was the signal feed for the tach, it wasn't making contact and therefore to signal was reaching the tach. I straightened them out, plugged it back in nice and square and presto, tach works perfectly. So to sum things up, ALWAYS make sure these harnesses are plugged in squarely to the fuse panel, reguardless of what your electrical problem is, it is SO easy for one or more of them to get cocked. The other terminal that was bent over was the hot lead for the blower motor which wasn't working either and now works like a charm. IF ANYONE CONVERTS A STOCK POINTS DISTRIBUTOR TO A BREAKERLESS MODULE FROM AMERICAN AUTO WIRE, IT WILL WORK PERFECTLY WITH A FACTORY IN DASH TACH. IT IS ACCURATE AND DOESN'T REQUIRE A TACH FILTER. I hope this shines some light on those banging their heads like I was. Thanks again all for your help.
