Need a switched 12 V power source

I need a switched 12 Volt power source near the fuse panel. I have used all the lugs that were available on the panel. Can you piggy back on a circuit?
Thanks

Re: Need a switched 12 V power source

Yes but you can not exceed the rated amperage total for that fused circuit. So you can have 4 or 5 two amp loads on a single 10 amp fuse. Just have to do some basic accounting of what is hooked up and shuffle the load.

If I dont have another lug to connect to what would you suggest. Maybe another connection or a new aux. fuse panel?

Re: Need a switched 12 V power source

Belkin at NAPA has a jumper that will allow you to stack the wires, all pluged into one spade terminal (It has a female spade socket and two male spade lugs). They also sell circuit breakers to replace your old Buss style fuses so that it will automatically reset if you over load the circuit turning on too many devices at once.

You could hook up the wire to the fuse on the fuse panel to, for instance, the wipers or the heater both of which are switched.

thanks all, I will see if I can jumper onto the wiper motor which is hardly ever used.
