Neutral safety switch in a 69 question

What is suppose to trigger the switch? The switch in there as well as the wires but no LINKAGE. What does the linkage look like and where does it connect to? The clutch pedal??

Ther is a picture of the switch and linkage in ricks catalogue. The linkage is connected to the clutch pedal.

stick or automatic tranny? On floor shift Auto, the horseshoe shifter works the neutral switch when you move it.
