Wiring Crane HI-6 to MSD Dist. and Coil???/

My new 67 Camaro has a Crane Hi-6 Fireball ignition system mounted inside the car under the heater core. The car also runs a Mallory Unilte Dist. and coil. I really want to run MSD dist and coil but really don't want to spend the money for the MSD 6AL box just yet. Can I connect the Crane HI-6 box to MSD products. I have the instructions from the previous onwer on the Crane box and it shows direct wiring for the Mallory Unilte but nothing. Are these components compatible? I have PDF files of the instructions if anybody wants to see them.

Thanks, Erik

I also have the Crane Hi-6 and I am pretty sure you can hook it to an MSD dist. Granted the weather pack connectors may not plug together, but you can solder them or butt connect if they don't.

Are you using a magnetic trigger or the points/electronic module? The magnetic trigger uses the purple and violet wires where the points/electronic module uses the white wire. I run a Pertronix dist. and I use the white wire. If you plan on using the points/elec. module hook up, go by the instructions on page 4(figure #2). If you use the magnetic trigger hook up then use page 5(figure #3).

Re: Wiring Crane HI-6 to MSD Dist. and Coil???/

I am not sure whether it is magnetic trigger or points/electronic module. I do know it is using that ballast resistor thing and I would like to remove that from the firewall for looks.
The last MSD ignition I did didn't use this resistor. It seems there are the same amount of wires coming out of the Crane and the MSD, I guess its just a matter of matching the right wires up without having to redo it all.
