Fuel Gauge Reading

Help...I just installed a brand new gas tank and sending unit etc. I put almost 5 gallon of gas in the nak. I started the car (67) and the fuel gauge is pegged way full! In connected the original wireing back up the same - only one sending unit wire and the ground to the frame.
I am hoping someone out there understands what could be wrong.

Re: Fuel Gauge Reading

Recheck your connections. One of them isn't making contact or you plugged the sending unit wire into the license plate light connector and smoked it when you turned the lights on..

Re: Fuel Gauge Reading

You were right - had sending unit plugged into the wrong connector, but I did not turn the lights on. Reconnected it and it works fine.
