One dim headlight

Swapped out my old headlights (both) for halogen but one is dimmer then the other
What could be the cause?

most likely you got a bad ground

I'd say Harry and Everett covered it quite well.

Trying using a volt meter to measure accross the ground connection whith the lights on and see if you find a few hundred millivolts. For example, back-probe the head lamp ground terminal and measure the drop between it and the negative battery post. Chances are your dim one will show more drop than the other. Ideally the voltage you read will be almost zero (0.03 volts or so).
