I have an typical HEI distributor in my 67 RS/SS Camaro and I am not sure where to connect the tach lead from the distributor into my repo harness. It appears that every wire coming from the firewall into the engine compartment (right side plug) is being used, i.e. wipers, starter, distributor hot etc. The tach is 67 Chevrolet and it is a console car with 4 speed, 12 bolt. I bought this car car as an unfinished resptoration project and after 6 months constant labor and frequent use of the debit card, it is finished with exception of a few minor bugs to work out.
When I ordered a new wiring harness for my 67 RS, I needed to specify that it was for an HEI. I believe (but I'm not 100% certain) that is because there is an extra wire in the harness that goes to the distributor for the tach.
You should be able to confirm this by calling Alan at Super Muscle Parts in Rancho Cordova (not too far from where you live) at (916) 638-3906. That is where I got my wiring harness.
I spoke to Alan yesterday and we could not make certain where to tie it in. He mentioned a tan wire possibly coming of of the connector at the printed circuit board of the bezel assembly but I want to make certain so as not to fry anything.

Where is the green wire in the harness? All firewall wires are accounted for so possibly under the dash?
In case anyone looks this up. The gauge feed wire that is typically used for the oil pressure switch (blue wire) on a non console car turned out to be the correct wire. I determined this by removing the instruments, studying the printed circuit board on the back of the gauges, and doing a continuity test from the pin at the plug at the gauges to the engine harness under the hood.
Original tach works perfect! Thanks for all the tips.
