Mini starter wiring

I just purchased a high torque mini starter from Jegs and noticed it only has 2 wire connections. I think I'm only supposed to use the battery cable for one and the wires on the right side of my old solenoid for the other. I belive the left side connections go to the coil and are not needed if using a pertonics ignition system or pointless system. Does this sound correct? Does anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Mini starter wiring

Unless you have a 67 with the older style ignition switch that doesn't route power to the coil in the "start" position. In that case you'll need to install a diode on the yellow wire that allows flow from the starter to the coil (or hei) during cranking.
