Cigarette ash tray light looks cool

I was replacing wood grain an refinishing the glove box an ash tray an discovered a net ash tray light it's wire an at the loos like mini bulb..?
does that mean my car 1st owner ordered with option...? an how can make work again..cause i had hard time removing it from the ash tray box ,to do the refinishing work...your help will be help were i should start...

Are you sure that it isn't a fiber optic line that transmits light from the gauge cluster area? This is the set-up in my car and it was hard to remove too.

I've got the fiber optic cable in my '68.

When researching this; I learned that 67s had a bulb and socket but the 68 had a fiber optic cable that piggybacked from a special dash lightbulb socket on the back of the dash instrument cluster. Not sure about 69 - the dashes were way different.

I think 69's were fiber optic too. Would that show in the AIM?
