Battery cable bulkhead connector

I'm running a trunk mounted battery. I want to bring the positive cable forward to the engine firewall and then put a bulkhead connector on the firewall instead of just running the cable thru a hole. Does anyone have a good source for something like this that's nice and clean and neat? This is the engine compartment that it's going in so it needs to be very sanitary..........

Re: Battery cable bulkhead connector

I would rather have a feed-thru hole with a grommet than a bulkhead connector, unless the connector has insulated covers on both sides. You are also introducing two more connections to cause you trouble.

DSE has them. It eliminates the chance of a short to ground. Very important on a positive cable!!!

What kind of cover do they use?

Re: Battery cable bulkhead connector

This is the one that I use from Moroso or Summit. I ran my cable inside the car and it connects on the passenger floorboard. I made the hole where the small opening is that is in your picture. It is in that small square hole on the lower pass fire wall under your A/C bulkhead. Then ran a short cable to the starter. Plus I have a ford solenoid in my trunk so that wire is not hot unless it is in the start position.

Any ideas on what to cover the connector with?

Re: Battery cable bulkhead connector

Mine is covered by the carpet on the inside of the car. On the outside since it comes thru the square hole in the fire wall support, it is covered with the metal. I cut a hole on the right side of that support and my wire goes thru that hole to the starter.

Here is a older picure. I have replaced the wire with a longer wire that is not touching the fuel line. I made a cover for the square hole on the firewall but you can see the wire coming out of the right side of the firewall so it is protected.
