Tach recommendation?

Seeking an aesthetically pleasing column-mounted tach for my '68. The interior is the standard black, 4spd without console. Is 2 5/8ths too small? 3 3/8th too big to do that hoseclamp thing around the column? Anyone have pics of an installation of which they're especially proud? I sure have learned a lot reading these forums, thanks.

Re: Tach recommendation?

Well, you definately wouldn't want that big *** 5" monster tach nor would you want that mini 2 5/8" tach!....So the obvious choice would be the 3 3/8" along with the hose clamp which will work around the steering column!

Well here is the big *** 5" monster tach mounted on top of the dash with a piece of 1" aluminum flat bar.

I have a friend that put the same tach on his dash on a 68. He made a U bracket out of 1/8" aluminum flat bar and it is bolted under the dash pad so you dont see the screw holes. When you put the dash back on it covers the bracket and the tach is mounted over the dash pad. Sorry I have no pictures.

Instead of using the hose clamp on the 3-3/8" tach I mounted it directly to the steering column with 2 screws. You will have to drill into the column and make sure the screws are short so it doesnt hit anything on the inside of the column.
