Horn Installation help 1972

Hi,

Thank you guys for all your help thus far. My post today is because I would like some help with the installation of a horn on the ''72. I bought the car with no horn. I have no clue how to begin or where to find a replacement. I know it has the actual horn part but no wires running anywhere. I will not be able to see the car until this weekend so I can''t produce any pics right now. So my questions:

1. Where can I find a horn?

2. Does it need to be strictly for a Camaro?

3. Do I need anything else?

4. Any tips on what to do and what NOT to do?

5. Is there any way to find a diagram?

As always, thank you.

Re: Horn Installation help 1972

Any horn will work, most likely the wiring is there for the horn. The wire color will usually be green.
When you find the wire, check for power when the horn button is depressed.
Most disconnected horns are that way because they would go off by themselves, usually a steering wheel button problem.

Re: Horn Installation help 1972

Like said above, any horn will do and there is only a green wire. No ground wire because the horn grounds when you bolt it to the hood latch.
My 71 has the horn relay on the radiator support right next to the voltage regulator but I believe the 72 has it on the firewall.

If that photo is of your horn and wiring your problem may be in the horn button or somewhere in between.
