What size Alternator?

I will be wiring my car soon and I was looking for alternator amperage recommendations. I would like to run options such as: vintage air, power windows, stereo system, etc. I will be using the AAW classic update wiring harness. I was thinking a 100 amp alternator, does this sound ok or should I go bigger? Thanks.

Re: What size Alternator?

You can do your request. If you decide to go with external regulated Delcotron alternator(OE supplied), use a Wells VR715 reg and have AAW install #8 AWG supply wire rather than #10 AWG.

If you decide on internal regulated, 12SI, or CS130, have AAW set-up the harness for the alt chosen and still replace the power wire for #8 AWG.

Re: What size Alternator?

IMHO there is no reason not to use a CS style. CS-130 is typical. Look in the stickies at the top of the electrical forum. You'll find some posts there and in the technical reference series (accessable from a couple of the sticky posts and the index page of this site). There are some brackets involved in mounting up a CS-130. Also the "clock position" of the mounting bosses is something to consider before you purchase.
