Re: 69 Camaro RS Back Up Light Question

I believe there was a rubber gromment that went through the trunk floor under the bumper? Don't know for sure, but someone with a 69 from here will get ya to the right place.

Sometimes it's better to let someone think your an idiot, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt...

Between the quarter and the bracing. There should be a half-circle cutout in that brace. Thats where the grommet for the wire goes

Driving a #s-matching Z in the rain..... and lovin' it....

Re: 69 Camaro RS Back Up Light Question

Can I use my backup light wiring from the middle bulb in conventional rear taillights?

Yes, but if you are keeping the standard lens, why would you add the RS backup lights?

RS taillamps had different lenses, housings, backup lights and wiring harness. Only changing one peice causes issues someplace else.

Re: 69 Camaro RS Back Up Light Question

The rs backup light comes with a female spade connector and grounds at the body.. I converted my standard harness by soldering and heat-shrinking a male spade onto the hot wires for b/u lights.

To convert your rear light harness correctly for 69 rs, you will also need to to add 1157 type sockets to the inner spot on each tail light housing, so that both the outer and inner on each side have tail, brake & turn.

Or just buy a rs rear light harness.

The rs tail light lens will fit your standard housing, however to be absolutely correct, the rs housing does not have a socket hole in the center pod.

Re: 69 Camaro RS Back Up Light Question

when you converted your standard harness- did you just pull the light green wire out of the middle socket, put a male on and connected?
My middle socket has a black wire still in it- is that okay to leave in there?
